Bethel Heroes 636, in an effort to honor a deceased member's service as a dedicated teacher, began the Alma Thigpen Scholarship Fund. The Fund is available to qualifying descendents of the Bethel Heroes Chapter. Students must have and maintain a C average and use the monies for post high school education. Financial need and grades will be considered, and each qualifying student must be attending a North Carolina school.

Allow two weeks for application requests to be processed. Completed applications must be received by our scholarship committee by June 15. Applicants will be notified by July 15. Awards are paid by semester pending academic success. The scholarship committee approves students for one year at a time, so applicants will need to reapply each year. The amount of the financial award is dependent on the number of qualifying applicants and the amount of available scholarship funds.
